“Assistive Technology: Empowering Health and Independence”
May 30, 2025
Assistive technology, such as remote health monitoring devices, has become critical for managing chronic conditions and ensuring access to care while reducing the need for frequent travel. Tools such as blood pressure cuffs, glucose monitors, and wearable health trackers are transforming how individuals, particularly older adults, manage their health.
With nearly 80% of older adults living with at least one chronic condition, these technologies play a vital role in enabling ongoing care. Research shows that remote monitoring can reduce hospital readmissions by up to 25% for older adults with chronic conditions. This not only enhances their overall health and independence but also helps lower healthcare costs.
This May, ATAP is proud to celebrate Older Americans Month 2025 and recognize the transformative impact of assistive technology in helping older adults age in place with dignity and support.
